Most people think weddings are synonymous with spring and summer, but I would argue there's nothing more romantic than a winter wedding in England. It may not snow (well, you might get lucky), but to gather your friends and family with the one you love and celebrate inside the cosy warmth along and its moody atmosphere from candles, wine, a roaring fire and sparklers...well, for me there's no better time to get married than in the depth of winter.
The photographs can be incredibly beautiful as well if you have an experienced photographer (hint, hint, like me). By day, you'll have the low, northern European sunlight. It's a gorgeous, gentle blue which you simply can't duplicate any other time of year. Then you can run out into the freezing cold for a few outdoor shots and then snuggle up by the fireplace with your new hubs.
Be it a a country pile or a London city wedding, there'll be a Dickensian atmosphere (in the Christmassy sense) to your wedding, and the season will be forever marked as one of love, warmth and icy beauty.
Just a few photographs of my favourite winter weddings in London (including Islington & Westminster) and the countryside...
