If you're looking for a hidden gem of a venue for your civil ceremony wedding in central London, and a big, busy town hall wedding isn't for you, try Mayfair Library. It's a second venue of Westminster Register Office for summer weddings on Saturdays. It ticks a lot of boxes for making your wedding day special and getting great wedding photographs.
On Mayfair's swanky South Audley Street in the West End, walk-up appeal doesn't get much better. Unlike busy Marylebone Road where the Marylebone Town Hall is located, Mayfair Library is on a quiet, tucked away side street surrounded by Georgian period architecture, lovely cafes and just a few minutes' walk from Oxford Street or Piccadilly.
For the ceremony, there are two rooms. The Mayfair Room is suitable for up to 38 wedding guests and is decorated in a simple, yet elegant style with great windows for beautiful, flattering side light and stylish geometric globe ceiling pendants. The Marylebone Room for up to 22 guests, and has a more antique style with a fireplace and stained glass window.
As a wedding photographer, the very best thing about a wedding at Mayfair Library is that there are so many opportunities for taking wedding photographs right outside Mayfair Library. You can get all your guests on the steps for a group shot and the bridge and groom walking through confetti. Then you can use all the classic London icons for background and colour in your couple portraits- red phone box, London black cab passing by, Georgian architecture and wrought iron railings - tick, tick, tick. Then you and your wedding guests can walk into the adjacent Mount Street Gardens and enjoy and photograph the greenery before popping out the other gate onto Conduit Street across from the Connaught Hotel, Claridge's, the Marriot and Berkeley Square a few minutes' further walk. There are literally dozens of choices for gorgeous venues for your wedding reception in in Mayfair from pubs to private member clubs and five-star hotels to intimate restaurants.
